Desire
That which propels us to succeed is also the obstacle. It is the fuel of life, the enemy of bliss–the spark of action, the thief of peace. The more we desire, the sharper our purpose, the deeper our discontent. There is no desire to manufacture or eliminate, nor should we try. Desire is a force of nature we must reconcile with–for better or worse.
Desire is the most fundamental impulse of life. It is our will to survive, to connect, to create. It hides behind every thought and every action, pulling us forward into anticipation. It informs our work, our health, our relationships–our entire lives.
If we are bound to this force, we ought to study it: to understand its power for change, to soften its grips in moments of hardship. We should dig beneath its surface to uncover its roots. But most importantly, we should make peace with its presence. Desire is not something to conquer nor dismiss–but something to carry, carefully.
