Life is unpredictable. Markets shift, technology advances, and people change. Unpredictability is part of life’s thrill, but too much can cause unnecessary stress. Routine can help alleviate this.

Routine reduces variability and introduces consistency, but contrary to common thought, it is not inherently mundane. It can be a repetitive motion upon wakeup or bedtime, but it can also be taking various routes to work or cooking different meals each night. Routine is simply consistent intentional action. Such actions reduce variability, assert agency, and calm the mind.

Routine is not characterized by its contents but by its consistent and calming nature. Identify what keeps you steady in an unpredictable world and do more of that. Cultivate peace in your life by introducing routine.
