Success

Success

‘Success’ is so frequently used in modern language that we’ve become numb to its implications. We accept how society has defined it and march in that direction–everyone is on the quest for fame and fortune.

Societies are coerced into this delusion as nations are forced to play the game of capitalism. Participation means greater national wealth and prestige, but only at the cost of individual subjugation. We are encouraged to make the most of our ‘equal opportunity.’ The more we achieve, consume, and accumulate, the more we have done so. The more we adhere to society's notions of success, the more we feed Capitalism’s insatiable appetite. No one wins here.

We should resist adopting the values of the masses not to be contrarian but in pursuit of finding our own values. True success is not defined by culture, it is defined by you. Success can mean almost anything you choose; It is simply your aim in life. What are you working toward?

In my eyes, success is the satisfaction of one's desires, whether through accomplishment or alleviation. It is the constant harmony between expectations and reality.

My desires boil down to two things: to enjoy, and to love. Every aim I pursue falls under these actions, but of course, definitions matter.
